About NBP
The Nottinghamshire Black Partnership was established in March 2001 and acts as an umbrella organisation, speaking on behalf of Nottinghamshire’s Black and Minority Ethnic Voluntary Sector (BMEVS). In other words it represents and advocates for over 50 BME charities and voluntary and community groups when it comes to dealing with decision-making organisations in Nottinghamshire, such as local authorities and One Nottingham, the organisation responsible for distributing funding for community projects from central Government. In this way, it makes sure that Nottinghamshire’s many BME voices are heard and have a say in how services such as healthcare, social care and education are delivered.
The Partnership has four main areas of focus – health, crime and community safety, children and young people and volunteering. For example, the Partnership works closely with public sector organisations such as Nottingham’s City Health Partnership and NHS Direct East Midlands to ensure that the specific needs of Nottingham’s BME communities are met with regards to health and social care. Similarly, it also works closely with groups like the Crime and Drugs Partnership Board and the Police to make sure that the BME community is involved in making decisions about how crime is tackled in Nottingham. To find out more please feel free to get in touch with us on 0115 979 1234.
